Aronia Berries

Although the taste of Aronia Berries is not at all like a blueberry, they can be used much like a blueberry in your recipes. Aronia works well with other fruits and with added sugar.  Frozen Aronia Berries can also be used quite well in baking.

Peach Aronia Pie with Pecan Streusel Topping


  • 3 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted and sliced.
  • 2 cups aronia berries
  • 1 1/2 TBS lemon juice
  • 3 TBS cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 pie crust (refrigerated or homemade)

Pecan Streusel Topping

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 TBS cold butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans


  1.   Preheat the oven to 375 * F.
  2.   Combine peaches and aronia berries in a large bowl.
  3.   Sprinkle with lemon juice and gently mix to combine.
  4.   Combine cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  5.   Sprinkle cornstarch mixture over fruit and gently toss to coat.
  6.   Unroll pie crust and place in a 9″ pie plate.
  7.   Crimp edges, if desired.
  8.   Pour fruit into pie crust.

Streusel Topping

  1.   Combine flour, sugars, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  2.   Cut in butter.
  3.   Stir in pecans.
  4.   Sprinkle topping over fruit filling.
  5.   Loosely cover pie edges with foil and place on a cookie sheet so you don’t mess up your oven.
  6.   Bake for 1 hour or until nice and bubbly.  Remove the foil about 10-15 minutes before pie is finished baking.
  7.   Let cool slightly before serving.
