A candle snuffer is a tool with a hinged “bell” attached to a handle. It’s purpose is to neatly & safely put out a burning candle. Blowing out a candle can cause hot wax to spatter, which is dangerous and messy. A snuffer also reduces the smoke from the wick after extinguishing the flame. A candle snuffer is a nice, convenient tool for any candle enthusiast.
History of the snuffer:
They were first invented in 1776 by an Englishman named Christopher Pinchbeck the Younger. They were sometimes called douters or candle extinguishers.
