Hidcote lavender is an English lavender with dark purple buds and lavender colored blooms. It is a compact plant growing about 12-20″ tall and wide. Hidcote is nice choice for low hedges or front of the border planting. If cut back after the first bloom, it often will bloom again later in the summer or fall.
Hidcote retains its dark color when dried, so it’s good for crafting. Stem length is 6-8″. It’s also good to use for culinary purposes.
Hardiness zone 5-9
Full sun and well drained soil is a must for success in growing lavender. It performs best in dry, sandy, alkaline, well-drained soil. Lavender does not like shade or excess water. Position the plants in the garden with plenty of space between them to encourage good air circulation. See our All About Lavender page for more information about growing lavender.
